Ms. Garner received advanced training in psychology and counseling from Xavier University in 1999. In 2000, she
received her LSW licensure. She was a founder of
the Ohio Federation for Children’s Mental Health in 1998. She became the
organization’s first Executive Director and has served as the Executive
Director of the organization since. Ms. Garner has been a board member of
the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, has
served as a member of numerous committees, commissions, and organizations,
and has provided consultation for public, private, and governmental

Program Manager, Marjorie Cook - Akron, Ohio is the proud parent of 9 year old Alex, who
lives with a mood and anxiety disorder. Her relentless and often
unsuccessful quest for answers, information, and help that would guide her
in meeting Alex’s needs created the path to her current role with the
Federation. She draws upon the value of her lived experience as
Alex’s parent to advocate for the mental health needs of families.
Marjorie’s passion for eliminating stigma, building resiliency and her
determination to change the current mental health system in Ohio is fueled by
the struggles and successes that she and her son encounter on a daily
basis. One of her favorite authors, Dr. Ross Greene, guides her
philosophical approach to her life’s work with Alex and others: “Children
do well if they can.” You may contact
Marjorie at Marjorie_OFFCMH1@fuse.net
